Are you guilty of neglecting yourself? In today’s busy lifestyle, we are all guilty of ignoring our bodies. We are dehydrated, survive on insufficient nutrients, and lead unhealthy life routines. It is no surprise then that most of us have damaged hair and skin. Even low maintenance hair can start to look dull if you neglect them like that.
And if you have finally noticed the poor condition of your hair, it is time you make up to them for all that neglect. Go through your pantry, rummage your drawers and take out the best oils, masks, and hair treatments you got. Make some easy on the pocket purchases, or if required, spend a little higher if it’s worth it. But do something.
We are a big fan of DIYs and homemade skincare products. When the need arises, we go back to some of the tried and tested recipes for hair growth. The one we share with you has all the ingredients to soothe an itching scalp and get those follicles multiplying. Try to be a little consistent, and it sure will leave your hair shiny, bouncy, smooth, and silky.
Aloe Vera Gel
Produced by the cute resilient plant grown in most homes, aloe vera gel is known for its soothing properties. It deeply conditions your follicles, moisturizes your hair, and can calm an itchy scalp. The watery gel works wonders for scalp inflammation and, consequently, dandruff. And if you are looking to cleanse your scalp of sebum and product build-up, this should be the ingredient of choice for you.
Argan Oil
Argan oil has loads of oleic and linoleic acids, fatty acids that help your scalp maintain moisture. The dose of vitamin E helps build up scalp fat, restoring moisture and shine to your locks and protects against damage from hair dyeing and styling. Together, the amino acids, essential fatty acids, and vitamin E facilitate the shine and elasticity of your hair.
Avocado Oil
Mostly used as a carrier oil, avocado oil readily absorbs in your skin. It can serve as a fantastic leave-in conditioner, detangler, and a solution for split ends & hair breakage. Massaging it in your scalp promotes blood circulation and helps unclog blocked hair follicles. Avocado oil forms a fatty acids film around hair strands, which tends to protect against sunburn and loss of moisture.
Olive Oil
Olive oil has high concentrations of monounsaturated fatty acids, notably oleic acid, which reduces oxidative stress. It has natural emollients – compounds that moisturize and soften – such as oleic acid, palmitic acid, and squalene. It strengthens and nourishes your hair from within, reducing the chances of breakage.
Rosemary Essential Oil
An excellent choice to promote hair growth, it is useful in slowing pattern baldness as well. It dilates blood vessels and promotes cell division, facilitating nutrient and oxygen delivery, eventually promoting hair growth. Rosemary essential oil also tends to moisturize your scalp and keep dandruff and itchy scalp at bay for healthy hair.
Clary Sage Essential Oil
Extracted from the Mediterranean herb of the same name, clary sage essential oil has a soothing effect. A property that makes it ideal for relieving stress and anxiety. It can maintain hormonal balance, including maintaining cortisol levels, a stress hormone linked to stress-related hair loss. The antibacterial and antifungal properties help keep a healthy scalp and, therefore, indirectly support hair growth.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Another essential oil with a very characteristic aroma, known for relieving stress and anxiety. A chemical called menthol is responsible for stimulating blood circulation towards hair follicles, promoting hair growth. Peppermint essential oil is considered an effective treatment for growing thicker, healthier hair and for slowing down hair loss.
